Attention students and homeless people! The Regulator Bookshop will be serving free wine and cheese this Sunday during the appearance of Peter Mayle (pictured), author of A Year in Provence. Mayle will be reading from French Lessons: Adventures with Knife, Fork and Corkscrew, which chronicles his wanderings through Paris in search of uniquely French gastronomic customs and cultural idiosyncracies. Mayle takes the reader to tiny, out-of-the way restaurants, local village markets, festivals and vineyards. Experience the Foire aux Escargots, a whole weekend devoted to the snail; witness a debate on the perfect way to fix an omlette; observe the Marathon du Médoc, during which runners passing through the great Bordeaux Vineyards refresh themselves not with water, but--you guessed it--red wine.
