Re: “In Wayne County, N.C., Trump’s America Is Angry

I grew up in Mount Olive, NC and I am neither surprised nor disturbed by the comments made by the people interviewed in this article. This area has and will always be full of racists who believe that they are better than minorities merely because of the color of their skin. The more outspoken racists seem to be those who are uneducated, but don't let that fool you. Many of them exchange their KKK hoods for doctor's coats and librarian buns every single day. Trump didn't make my hometown this way. He only gave their hatred more purpose, affording them the ability to make their secret behavior the "new normal".
