If you're like most people, you've probably spent many an evening wondering: Is there a way I can support my local community by eating and watching TV?
The answer is yes! In a happy confluence of comestibles and cable access, Durham Community Media, producer of The Peoples Channel, is hosting "Home-Grown, Home-Made: A Celebration of Localism" at Fullsteam brewery. In addition to Fullsteam's home brew, several fine local vendors, including Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe, Reliable Cheese Co., Kukia's Cookies and Coon Rock Farm, will provide food, wine and desserts. Proceeds go to Durham Community Media, source of programming such as Amy Goodman's Democracy Now! and Occupy Durham, Parts 1 and 2. The event runs 5:30–8:30 p.m.; tickets are $20 in advance, $25 at the door. —Marc Maximov
