Hindugrass

When: Sun., Jan. 29, 2:30 p.m. 2012
Price: Free

Promenade over to Motorco to get in on its Bloody Brunch, a free music series that features Hindugrass this week. Ragas meet reels and more in this Indo-Appalachian fusion orchestra, in which violin and cello mingle with sarod, guitar and tabla. Sarod leader John Heitzenrater's compositions are gentle on the ears but work like espresso on the brain, with their intricate, percussive synchronies. Like meditation or a good massage, the results are as contemplative as they are energizing. The music starts at 2:30 pm, with kids and dogs both welcome; Dtown Market and food trucks Kokyu BBQ and The Parlour expand the possibilities. Admission is free. —Sylvia Pfeiffenberger
