Hi Mom! Film Festival

No one on Earth that loves us more than Mom. That's why we try so darn hard to impress the lady. The hard-working folks of the Carolina Production Guild (CPG) have provided a fantastic opportunity for intrepid filmmakers to show off and make Mommy proud this weekend (Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4) in Chapel Hill. After weeding through 150 submissions to their Hi Mom! Film Festival, they are ready to show you an eclectic mix of independently produced shorts, animation, documentaries, and feature-length films. Local filmmakers, including some CPG-funded artists and CPG members, figure into the lineup, alongside folks from up and down both coasts, and folks who have shown their works at Cannes, Sundance and Chicago's Underground Film Festival. Notable among the offerings is a showing of Blair Witch Project precursor, The Last Broadcast, a midnight showing of several 35mm shorts at the Carolina Theatre, and a concert integrating video, rap and musical miscellany at the Cat's Cradle. See "Special Showings" for details.
