Heartless Bastards

Heartless Bastards, The Fling, Flesh Wounds

When: Thu., March 1, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $14-16

You might not think a group that sounds like a garage band from the great wild West would come from Cincinnati, Ohio, but witness the Heartless Bastards: Erika Wennerstrom has a voice that pierces the veil, turning tunes into moments that suggest you're eavesdropping on someone pouring his or her soul out in an empty stairwell. This hypothetical stairwell is steeped in bluesy/ country guitars, upbeat bass lines and rolling snares. Heartless Bastards released their newest album, Arrows, on Valentine's Day; sick joke, lovers. The Fling and Flesh Wounds open the 9 p.m. show. —James Hatfield
