Genticorum

When: Tue., Jan. 7, 8 p.m. 2014
Price: $18-26
It may seem like a niche, but the traditional Quebecois music that Montreal's Genticorum plays has led them to tour 15 countries on four continents in the last 13 years. The trio uses fiddle, flute, guitar, bass and jaw harp to back its group vocals. The fusion of traditional folk and Celtic tunes with more modern elements results in beautiful instrumental tunes and fiery dance songs. The mix has earned them not only Juno nominations and Canadian Folk Music awards at home but also deserved international attention. —Spencer Griffith
