Fuddy Meers

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through June 30 2013
Price: $15-22

David Lindsay-Abaire, the Pulitzer-winning playwright of Rabbit Hole, takes on short-term amnesia in his own offbeat style in this tale of Claire, who wakes up every day to a blank slate that must be filled in by her husband and teenage son. (First person to bring up the Adam Sandler/Drew Barrymore rom-com 50 First Dates gets a smack.) Things get complicated when she's abducted by a half-blind, half-deaf man and taken to a remote house with her stroke-addled mother, whose pronunciation of "funny mirrors" gives the play its title. Then a sock puppet shows up. And then things get really strange. Hey, someone wrote a play about what happened to me last Tuesday! I'll have to inquire about that to veteran Raleigh Ensemble Player Jesse Gephart, who directs. —Zack Smith
