KEITH URBAN

DEAN SMITH CENTER--Ireland On-Line reports that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman looked uncomfortable together Tuesday night at the MusiCares Person of the Year ceremony, but the Melbourne Herald-Sun reports that "Australia's golden couple" held hands in the front row at the Grammy's. Whatever. Right now, Urban is the best that popular country has to offer: The Queensland native writes fine songs (his "You'll Think of Me" won for Best Male Country Vocal Performance, beating Willie Nelson), and--here's the real kicker--he doesn't play country music guitar like a "good" musician. That is, he tries something new, sometimes inducing feedback in guitar solos. Honky-tonk Hendrix? Natural Brown opens at 8 p.m. --Grayson Currin

The Day I Became a Woman

N.C. Museum of Art--Iran is rapidly becoming the world's new bogeyman, but unlike the other members of the Axis of Evil, this ancient nation has a global audience for its movies. Out of necessity and prudence, these filmmakers avoid direct political engagement but manage to create stories of beauty and insight. The Day I Became a Woman is an extraordinary film that, in three very different vignettes, allegorizes the female condition in Iran. Marzieh Meshkini, the film's young director, doesn't give us predictable outrage--instead, her women are as strong and imaginative as they are confined. It starts at 8 p.m. for $5. --David Fellerath
