DURHAM
BENEFIT FOR 305 SOUTH
305 SOUTH—The current Triangle venue most emotionally willing and spatially capable of becoming both a local music mainstay and a national act tour stop, Durham's 305 South wants new bathrooms before its crowds get any bigger. The sound for tonight's venue benefit is plenty mammoth, though: Carrboro's Black Skies leads the cavalcade to Durham, along with Raleigh's Maiden mavens in Colossus and Durham's thrashers of Gun Metal Black. Athens' Pride Parade is a band to keep an eye on: Heavy in that mid-'90s Chicago way, their stomping takes on the sweat and sonic saturation characteristic of two of the best bands to emerge from their hometown in the last decade, the sinister Harvey Milk and the grimy pop orchestra Dark Meat. Bring $5-$7 at 8:30 p.m. —Grayson Currin

RALEIGH
MADAMa BUTTERFLY
PROGRESS ENERGY CENTER—Be there with Capital Opera in their first performance at the Progress Energy Center as they present the music from Puccini's Madama Butterfly at 7:30 p.m. This choral ensemble showcases emerging artists and creates affordable, quality opera productions. Tonight's performance in the Fletcher Opera Theater will be accompanied by a 24-piece orchestra. Tickets are $20. If you miss this one, be sure to catch the Sunday matinee. For more info, call 469-0600 or visit trianglesings.org/eventdetail.asp?id=1178. —Iesha Brown
