RALEIGH
EAST MEETS WEST
BICKETT GALLERY—Bickett Gallery will hold the opening reception of East Meets West, which features the Japanophile storyboards, prints, woodcuts, postcards of Sharon Marcussen, as well as her animated work The Adventures of the Supersparkle. Joining the exhibit is Arizona native Liz Adams and her comics illustrations. For more info, visit www.bickettgallery.com, or call 836-5358. —Megan Stein

CARRBORO
ROBYN HITCHCOCK
CAT'S CRADLE—From the Soft Boys to today, Robyn Hitchcock's music has sounded like Dylan going electric, John Lennon going solo, and Syd Barrett going Byrdsy. Lyrically, Hitchcock makes the weird seem normal and vice versa. He's recorded a song titled "The Wreck of the Arthur Lee," and last year's Ole! Tarantula ended with a tribute to Arthur Kane titled "N.Y. Doll." Tickets are $16 for the 9 p.m. show. —Rick Cornell

DURHAM
Tiger Woods© Conference
DUKE CAMPUS—It's Tiger all day long as the John Hope Franklin Center hosts Tiger Woods©: American Empire, Global Golf, and the Making of Megacelebrity. Smart people tee it up, including Duke profs Grant Farred and Orin Starn, and New York Times reporter Selena Roberts. Hanif Omar, host of WNCU's lively sports show Fast Break, moderates this event, which is free of charge and runs from 1:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. For more info visit www.culturalanthropology.duke.edu.—Iesha Brown
