Chapel Hill

Local 506--Don Dixon's musical visits to the Triangle occur for a variety of reasons. He's done a couple Arrogance reunions recently, and he has a "King Mackerel" night at the ArtCenter with his Red Clay Rambler buds coming up. But this solo show at Local 506 is pure Dixon, and it marks a special occasion: the emergence of The Entire Combustible World in One Small Room, his first album in over five years. Expect to hear a lot from this new one--it is a CD release show after all--but there's a good chance that you'll also get your favorite from Romeo at Juilliard. Tickets are $10, and the music starts at 8:45 p.m. with opener Ed Crawford. --Rick Cornell

Masonic Lodge--Tonight at 8:30 p.m., The Filmmakers Film Series will present works from the Flicker film festival, including Hot Dog Man by Joyce Ventimiglia and Jim Haverkamp, the gibbering horror of howard ghormley by Steve Daniels, and Ablution by Eric Patrick. The screening takes place at the King Street Masonic Lodge across from the old Colonial Inn. Advance tickets are sold at Callaway Jewelry or online at Tickets at the door are $7. --David Fellerath
