Hi Mom! Film Fest

Multiple Venues--The 9th Annual Hi Mom! Film Fest continues tonight with a rowdy double bill. After an opening Thursday night capped by performances by Milemarker and Kerbloki, the Friday programming gets underway at 9 p.m. at the Rosemary Street parking deck with a set of family-friendly shorts. Among the highlights here are Fumi and the Bad Luck Foot, a tale of a girl with a foot that attracts danger--just wait and see. At midnight, the action moves inside to The ArtsCenter for an excursion into the rowdier byways of the cinematic arts. Look for new work from local filmmakers Jim Haverkamp and the duo of Onur Tukel and Amber Tozer. Tickets to the 9 p.m. show are $5, and it's $4 at midnight. See for info or a $15 weekend pass. --David Fellerath

Celtic Wonders Concert

N.C. Museum of Art--When you first hear Liz Carroll play a traditional Irish fiddle tune, you would never guess that she's a Chicago native. Carroll captures the spirit of the Irish countryside with her composition and performance. Sharing the bill is Le Vent du Nord, four Quebec musicians specializing in Celtic music and dance. The concert starts at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5-$15, with kids under 5 free. --Kathy Justice
