N.C. MUSEUM OF ART--Philip Seymour Hoffman moved up to the A-list when he won an Oscar for his marvelous channeling of the author of In Cold Blood in Capote. We'll see if the film's primary setting in the Kansas wintertime has an appreciable effect on the climate of the museum lawn. (The museum will be showing March of the Penguins, an even more wintry film, the following night.) Tonight at 9 p.m. Tickets are $3. --David Fellerath

CAMERON VILLAGE REGIONAL LIBRARY--Forget the speed-dating and singles night at your local watering hole and come mingle with other literary aficionados in between the stacks of Cameron Village's recently remodeled library. Use your favorite book as a conversation starter, or, for those shy at heart, participate in a friendly icebreaker to get chummy with the others. Show up at 6:30 p.m. --Kathy Justice
