DURHAM
WHIRLING DERVISHES OF RUMI
Duke Campus—The dance of the whirling dervishes is a Turkish custom where dancers spin in harmony to reach a trance-like state that brings them closer to purity and the love of God. Tonight, in Page Auditorium at 7 p.m., the Whirling Dervishes of Rumi will perform, accompanied by Sufi music and the poetry of Rumi. Tickets are $19-$34. For more info, call 386-3464 or visit www.divannc.org. To order tickets, call 684-4444 or visit www.tickets.duke.edu. —Megan Stein

NEW BLACK THEATER COMPANY
Manbites Dog Theater—We can't tell you the name of the area's newest troupe, but we can repeat what we said last fall when a five-star African American cast, freed from color-based casting and agenda-driven shows, set out to make great theater in The Cherry Orchard: It's about time. Tonight, cast members from that show serve up a reading of Ibsen's A Doll's House, light hors d'oeuvres—and the name of their company. $15 is suggested. Call 225-3233 or email theatre.reservations2007@gmail.com.—Byron Woods

RALEIGH
A FACE IN THE CROWD
N.C. Museum of Art—As a part of its 2007 Winter Film Series, the NCMA presents A Face in the Crowd starring Andy Griffith, Patricia Neal, Lee Remick and Walter Matthau. The 1957 film chronicles the life of an Arkansan who goes from rags to riches but succumbs to fame and power. The film, which will be introduced by Indy arts editor David Fellerath, begins at 8 pm. Tickets are $5. For information, call 715-5923 or visit www.ncartmuseum.org. —Iesha Brown
