RALEIGH
LA BOHEME
PROGRESS ENERGY CENTER—Tonight at 7:30 p.m., the Opera Company of North Carolina presents Puccini's La Bohéme, a chronicle of six struggling artists in Paris and their resilience to succeed, at Memorial Auditorium. Tickets range from $19-$74. For more info, visit operanc.com or call 834-4000. —Iesha Brown

THE BLEEDING HEARTS
SLIM'S—I first encountered Dave Bartholomew in the early '90s when he was in his late teens and playing barefooted drums in one of Jeff Hart's groups at a now-long-gone Raleigh music club. These days, it wouldn't be a stretch to call him the Triangle's music MVP. He'll get another couple votes when he makes his debut as the Bleeding Hearts drummer when the hard-rock outfit returns to their home field, Slim's, into an arena. The 10 p.m. show is free. —Rick Cornell
