Durham
Tripsichore Yoga Theatre
Durham Arts Council—Combing yoga with Cirque de Soleil, Tripsichore Yoga Theatre performs Insects, in which talented yogis and yoginis explore the movements of insects through a storytelling montage of poses that require enormous strength and skill. Triangle Yoga produces the show, and we're told the show will "combine the spirituality of yoga with acrobatic agility and grace and the emotional pull of a good play." The show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20-$25. Visit www.triangleyoga.com or call 933-9642. —Megan Stein

Raleigh
Zappa Plays Zappa
Lincoln Theatre—When Dweezil Zappa decided to take his late father's songs on the road, he said he wanted to study the work in-depth. He began at the guitar solo in "Hot Rats," since that was the record Frank had dedicated to him. Now Dweezil and the band are on a sprawling tour, covering a wide cross-section of Frank's catalog. Unlike all the noodly Zappa fetishists out there, this venture comes straight from the family. Pay $29-$35 for the 8 p.m. bill. —Chris Toenes

Raleigh
Art Auction Benefit
Rebus Works—For Free Range Studio and Rebus Works, Friday the 13th is about more than superstition. It's the date these two organizations are joining forces to put on a special art auction to benefit the Brussels Chamber Orchestra and the Raleigh Community Music School. The auction, which features contributions from many top artists in the Triangle, is $10 for the live auction with drinks and international hors d'oeuvres and $50 for admission to an art swap prior to the auction. Call 821-3478 for reservations. The Brussels Chamber Orchestra performs July 5 at AJ Fletcher Auditorium at 8 p.m. —Zack Smith

Carrboro
Art Dorks
Wootini—The "Art Dorks" are a group of designers who seem to have met while working for CNN in Atlanta. They're happy for us to know that, as long as we don't confuse them with Fox News. There's an opening reception tonight at the always lively Wootini, and the work of four Art Dorks—Brendan Danielsson, Jason Murphy, and Katie and Meagan Ridley—will be on view.

Judging from what we've seen, and their own manifesto—"being young artists, [we've] been collectively bombarded with media since the day [we] were born and it's bound to influence [our] work"—you should expect a highly referential show. We spot little hints of Fernando Botero and Lucien Freud. What will you see? Wootini is located inside Carr Mill and the reception starts at 7 p.m. The show runs through Aug. 5. Visit www.wootini.com. —David Fellerath
