Text and image are in the air these days. Major exhibitions presenting artists who incorporate both are hanging at the North Carolina Museum of Art and CAM Raleigh. And now Film in the House of the Word—a free reading and screening series—appears on the lively weeknight schedule in Durham. Co-curated by poet and Duke literature doctoral candidate Laura Jaramillo and filmmaker and Duke MFA experimental documentary arts student Joel Wanek, the series will pair a local artist with an established one, a filmmaker with a writer. The debut event offers short films by Jolene Mok and Peter Lisingoli and a reading by poet and translator Marta Nuñez. Expect to hang out afterward rapping about the aesthetic and political resonances between the air and the screen. The free 8 p.m. event is located at Hull Avenue Studio, 1516 Hull Ave. —Chris Vitiello
