Elton John's recent work is hit and miss. Where 2004's Peachtree Road finds him lifelessly peddling old tricks with a superficial Southern sheen, 2006's The Captain & the Kid sees him reinvigorated, jaunting through concept-propelled power-pop in a sequel to Captain Fantastic that does no disservice to the original. Through it all though, John has remained a tremendous performer, his wondrous and whimsical piano lines bolstered by Technicolor riffs and fetching rhythms. His calm confidence shows he's played more than a few arenas. His tremendous energy proves that he still enjoys doing it. Tickets for the 8 p.m. show range from $27 to $139. –Jordan Lawrence
