This is a past event.
When: Sept. 5-Nov. 15 2013
Located on the first and second floors of the Raleigh Municipal Building on Hargett Street, Block Gallery devotes its fall show to images of sacred belief and personal struggle. Ebb and Flow brings together Holden Richards' photography, Amy Friend's mixed-media drawings and Ginny Runge's watercolors in a show that uses nature as a mirror for the human experience. Richards' use of vintage cameras and old-school darkroom processes echoes the fragility of the landscapes he photographs. Runge imbues the mandala's radial form with floral intensity. Friend's work with bird imagery takes a more expressive route. Block2, a gallery devoted to area video work, features Adam Graetz's "Into the Woods" and "Gaze of Native Dreamers." —Chris Vitiello
