There's also a 35 mm print of The Jerk, which opens Saturday. Funny story: There's an episode of Freaks & Geeks in which a kid realizes his girlfriend is not meant for him when she doesn't find The Jerk funny. At a cast reunion I attended last year, the actress who played the girlfriend said the hardest part of that role was not laughing at that film. It's just that powerful, folks. Other films screening during this run include 9 to 5, Ruthless People, What's Up, Doc? and Trading Places, though several of these are Blu-Ray projections and run up against my film snobbery. The festival runs through July 19. —Zack Smith
