Binghamton, N.Y., acoustic act Driftwood named their 2011 LP A Rock & Roll Heart. That's cute but cloying, given the glut of other high-visibility acts that forgo amps and electric guitars for traditional instrumentation. The songs are often gimmicky, too. At least Chapel Hill's Mipso are a band ready to graduate: The members of this string trio finish at UNC in May, and their plan is to take the music full-time at that point. Given their strong pop sensibilities and a gift for melody, it'll be an interesting trajectory—succeed or fail. Honeychile opens at 9 p.m. —Corbie Hill
