Usually, when a band opts to go the self-titled route well into their career, it's either a reaffirmation of their original intentions or a pointed shift in direction. With San Diego's Delta Spirit, it's a little bit of both. The folk-rock roots the group proudly displayed on previous records aren't necessarily gone for good, but they've been given a modern dye job. Given that this move has produced their highest Billboard chart debut to date, it appears to be a look that suits both their sound and their fans just fine.
