What a pleasure it is to be the first Parlour fan to post a review of their product. It is, in a word, stunning. I have not yet had a flavor that I didn't think was first-rate, and the ones I tend to get regularly are some of the best I've ever had--particularly the salty butter caramel, which is in a class by itself. The toppings are as good as the ice cream: always fresh and, like the ice cream flavors, fantastically delicious. I'd also like to put in a good word for the proprietors, who are so friendly and professional that it would be a pleasure to support any endeavor they come up with. But in the meantime, I'm overjoyed to be a regular customer of Parlour. Whether you're a vegan or a traditionalist, whether it's time for a flavor combination you've never imagined or only a comforting single scoop and topping will do, Parlour is your taste buds' best friend.
A rising tide does not float all boats. Downtown has gentrified at the expense of the working class people who built it and the middle class people who once owned its stores and restaurants. For me, living in the "new Durham" feels like being married for 54 years to a town that's suddenly declared itself transurban, undergone hasty surgery, and started bringing home a lot of people who are convinced they're way cooler than I am.
