Malibu, California, band Simon Dawes dropped both the Simon and the post-punk proclivities around the same time they lost a founding member. Thankfully, Dawes regrouped in Los Angeles in 2009, flaunting a folk-rock sound and a debut release on Dave Matthews' ATO Records. Lead singer and songwriter Taylor Goldsmith's captivating lyrics play over warm, soulful harmonies and shuffling rhythms.
