Dark Water Rising, Resonance Cascade, Lactose Quervo, Michael Daughtry

Hailing from the swamp country of Robeson County that gave rise to Lumbee resistance fighters in the 19th century, the members of Dark Water Rising are proud of their Native American heritage. Having recently undergone a lineup shuffle, the independent Southern rockers are now a quartet, with Charly Lowry as sole frontwoman backed by multi-instrumentalists Corey Locklear, Aaron Locklear and Shay Jones. American Idol veteran Lowry's knockout vocal is big enough for soul, from Adele to Aretha, and this group can't sit still when it comes to busting genres, encompassing hints of heavy metal, hip-hop and folk-rock. With the Resonance Cascade, Lactose Quervo and Michael Daughtry. —Sylvia Pfeiffenberger
