Daniel Greyber

When: Tue., Jan. 15, 7 p.m. 2013

If you're anything like me, you spent the days before Christmas in a fit of soul-crushing despair at the fate of the children of Newton, Conn., wondering about what sort of species would allow this to happen. Death hits us hard, even when it's people we didn't know directly, or at all. And curiously, there are few religious traditions for those who have lost friends; there's little guide to mourning for those outside of family. Rabbi Daniel Greyber of Durham's Beth El Synagogue addresses this in his new book Faith Unravels, sharing his own story of faith lost and regained, which he'll discuss in conversation with First Presbyterian's Rev. Joe Harvard. Try to make sense of a senseless world with men of God at this free 7 p.m. reading and signing. —Zack Smith
