Dan Bern

When: Tue., Dec. 11, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $15

Though prolific songwriter Dan Bern is approaching 50 and his second decade of releasing sociopolitical and personal anthems about the woes and rewards of the world, he's yet to mature in that classical and damning sense: That is, 10 years after his Swastika EP and even longer since his sweetly vitriolic New American Language, Bern's songs still depend upon the critical bile and idealist wanderlust to be expected more from a young punk than a guy with a guitar and a hat to cover his receding hair. What's more, Bern delivers his material with concomitant verve, banging on the strings and howling out admonitions like his world view depends upon it. After all, it does. —Grayson Currin
