Given The White Stripes and The Raveonettes, no one's going to suggest that bluesy-surfabilly duo Frank Hoier and Moselle Spiller are onto something particularly new. But good rock is more determined by the spirit with which it's delivered than its originality, and Crushed Out's debut Want To Give certainly has oomph. "Sharkbite" mines mesmerizing fuzz-laden grooves, while "Temper Tantrum" crosses the Ramones and Chuck Berry with a lively rave-up. At times you'll even hear some glammy T. Rex swagger. Crushed Out's hooks aren't that strong, but they play them well and with infectious intensity. The Ill Family opens the $8 show at 9 p.m. —Chris Parker
