It's hard to overstate how important church organ is to Chicago's Creepy Band. It's the linchpin of the outfit's low-key, melody-driven metal. Adding Sabbath-inspired heft to the Misfits' macabre, the group does well by a fairly obvious pairing. The organ also bolsters the humor at the heart of Creepy Band's shtick, piercing through with tunes borrowed from old-school horror reels as singer Dave Henderson groans about wolfmen and meat grinding. The twisting of horror-film stereotypes has long been a metal hallmark, but Creepy Band seems singularly dedicated to the pursuit, arriving with a fully formed novelty act more satisfying than most. Cracker & the Doctor opens the 9 p.m. show; admission is $5. —Jordan Lawrence
