Are You Ready To Retire? Already Retired? How Will You Find Meaning in Your Life After Work? What Dreams Would You Like To Pursue?
Over the last few years of my three decade psychotherapy practice, I have noticed baby boomer age clients discussing retirement issues with more frequency. They are asking,
"What will I do with my time?"
"How will I make new relationships?"
"Who will I be without my work identity?"
A common concern among my retired clients is how they will stay relevant to themselves and others in a post-work environment. To better address these specific client issues, I became a Certified Retirement Coach in 2011.
If you or someone you know is asking these questions, Retirement Coaching can help you navigate uncertainties, and the transition from work to personal and social interests and prepare you for the best possible retirement outcome with healthy sustaining relationships, meaningful activities, a sense of purpose, and belonging.
Retirement Coaching utilizes two assessment tools. The Retirement Success Profile, used primarily with individuals and couples, is a non-financial inventory of 120 questions taken online, that reflects your expectations and present behaviors for 15 universal factors such as Work Reorientation, Attitude Toward Retirement, Current Life Satisfaction, and Adaptability. The LifeOptions Profile is another lens to many of the same issues highlighted in the RSP and specifically designed and utilized with group, corporate and organizational settings. The RSP is an excellent spring board from which to explore your readiness for retirement, your strengths and areas of focus. I incorporate my clinical expertise to help you work through problem areas and move forward with your retirement goals.
Couples, specifically, are finding that the RSP along with retirement coaching makes what could have been a conflictual retirement with divergent needs and expectations, one where each person can identify and clarify her/his wants and learn tools to better communicate and bridge areas of difference.
