It's telling that tonight the reanimated Corrosion of Conformity (in its Animosity-era trio configuration) shares the stage with both Scream and Devour. The former—perhaps best known for Dave Grohl's short stint as drummer—was once a solid addition to Dischord Records' stable of definitive hardcore bands, farming the middle ground between Bad Brains and Operation Ivy. Devour, though, is a modern outfit, a local band whose take on the genre is as complex and compelling as it is feral. Corrosion of Conformity, now readying a new album for fall release, is the rare old dog with new tricks. And if last year's "Your Tomorrow" single is any indication, the new tricks are almost as good as the old. —Bryan Reed
