Multiple Locations, First Night Raleigh—Tonight's a fine time to meet the new neighbors: a trapeze-swinging Tiger Lady, an Illustrated Man, a fire-breathing Amazonian Dragon Woman. There will be twin contortionists, a winged Isis on stilts and Gatita, the Bearded Lady.
Cirque de Vol, Raleigh's new downtown "creative movement arts studio," offers more than the usual mix of dance and yoga classes. Its trained professionals also teach acrobatics, aerial, fire and sword dancing, and what they term "the flow arts of traditional cirque theatre."
Tonight, in addition to an open house at their Hargett Street studios, they'll be presenting seven different cirque and sideshow acts. Thrill to aerial stunts over Fayetteville Street! Encounter fortune-tellers, flaming sword dancers and not-so-mythical creatures on and off trapeze! Peruse a Cirque version of a fashion show.
