Ciompi Quartet with Ashley Bathgate & James Tocco

When: Sat., April 20, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $10-20
www.dukeperformances.org

The final concert of the season from Ciompi, Duke's resident string quartet, includes several special appearances. Bang on a Can All-Stars cellist Ashley Bathgate should add pizzazz to a world premiere string quartet by Duke Music professor and Vice Provost for the Arts Scott Lindroth. Pianist James Tocco, a longtime Ciompi collaborator, takes the stage for a seldom-performed George Enescu piano piece. Mozart's "String Quartet No. 21" rounds out the program on a night that's sure to feel celebratory. —Chris Vitiello
