The Ciompi Quartet launches its season in the pristine confines of the newly refurbished Baldwin Auditorium at Duke. They'll open with Haydn's pinnacle, his String Quartet No. 60 in G Major. Duke's longtime resident chamber players turn moody with Shostakovich's String Quartet No. 12 in D-flat Major before welcoming the bluegrass ensemble the Kruger Brothers to perform their Appalachian Concerto. It's a great chance to hear a pair of acclaimed North Carolina ensembles, as well as to bask in the acoustic glory of the reborn Baldwin.
