Click for larger image • The federal government's highly popular Cash for Clunkers program ended Aug. 24. Dealers have bought nearly 500,000 clunkers since July 24, as car owners received money toward the purchase of newer, more fuel-efficient models. This clunker rests at Raleigh Metal Recycling.
