Carrboro Film Festival

When: Sun., Nov. 18 2012
Price: $7

Some film festivals take weeks, while others do their business in a weekend. Credit to the Carrboro Film Festival, then, for efficiently showing the best local short subjects in a single afternoon. In three blocks of about an hour and a half each, nearly three dozen films will be screened. Each block will be followed by a Q-and-A session, and the entire day will be capped by a free afterparty at the nearby Open Eye at 7:15 p.m. Although there are bound to be strong efforts in all three blocks, we've seen work by Alan Lebetkin (The Hindenburglar) and Jim Haverkamp (When Walt Whitman Was a Little Girl), that should set viewers at ease. All-day tickets for adults are $7. —David Fellerath
