A bike rally in Durham isn't going to look like Sturgis or Myrtle Beach. That much should be obvious. Rather than the familiar rattle and roar of oversize Harleys, this weekend event features English bikes and scooters from the '50s through the '70s. And the site promises "no trailer queens." A portion of West Main Street will be closed off as motorcycles and their people congregate and ride. Even the music on Friday and Saturday at the Casbah is bike culture-oriented: The Friday show pits "rockers" against "mods." Probably the musical highlight of the weekend—bafflingly designated "mod"—is Friday's performance by the Temperance League. The Charlotte band finds the middle ground between Joe Strummer's solo records and Springsteen. Think a bombastic, less self-aware Hold Steady. The Saturday bill is packed to capacity with rockabilly, surf and outlaw country. —Corbie Hill
