Arguably the finest technical guitarist of the last 20 years, Buckethead is without doubt the most idiosyncratic. It goes beyond the namesake KFC bucket and Kabuki mask he wears onstage; he can and will play anything and everything. He's explored trip-hop ambience, shredding metal, funk, noise rock, dub and prog with many stops between. He's a protégé of John Zorn, he briefly played in GNR and his albums have featured Bootsy Collins. While capable of searing light-speed blasts, he tends toward the more subtle and expressive, frequently making cinematic use of an otherwordly space, as he carves out a sound somewhere between Adrian Belew, Bill Laswell and Kerry King.
