Best Brownies Ever!
1 1/2 lbs. high quality
cut into pieces
6 large eggs
granulated white sugar
pure vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
chopped walnuts (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and place the rack in the center of the oven.
Butter a 9 x 13 inch pan. Melt the chocolate and butter in a double boiler. Remove
from heat and set aside. Meanwhile, in a large bowl mix together the eggs and sugar.
Fold in the melted chocolate mixture and vanilla extract. In a separate bowl, sift the
flour, baking powder, and salt and then fold into the chocolate and sugar mixture
until well combined. Add walnuts, if using, and mix in. Pour into the prepared pan
and bake for about 40 - 50 minutes- until a toothpick comes out almost clean. If the
toothpick is totally clean, they will be overdone. Remove from oven and let cool on a
