Books That Pop

When: Tue., Oct. 29, 5 p.m. 2013
Pop-up or movable books combine art, paper engineering & storytelling in an intricately crafted object in a way that engages readers of all ages. Everyone loves the surprise of the “pop” or the action on the next page. This is a discussion on the art & educational value of pop-up books. Rebecca Vargha, head librarian at UNC’s School of Information and Library Science (SILS) Library, will share highlights of the library’s pop-up collection, including a rare copy of The Aquarium, which dates to the early 1880s. She will then moderate a discussion with three private collectors of pop-up books.
