David Harrower's Blackbird, which played off-Broadway a few years ago with Jeff Daniels and Alison Pill, makes its regional debut at Manbites Dog. Fifteen years ago, Una and Ray had a relationship; she was 12, he was 40. Now Una has tracked Ray down to his workplace as decades of revelations and recriminations spill forth. Dealing with dark issues of illicit attraction, pedophilia and abusive relationships, Blackbird is not what one would call a feel-good drama, but it's been praised for its undeniable power and ability to explore places many plays would fear to tread. Manbites Dog's production runs June 17–20 and 24–26; the shows are at 8:15 p.m. except for a matinee at 3:15 on Sunday, June 20. Tickets are $17 weekends and $12 weeknights, with discounts for students, seniors and the military. This opening night production has a special "pay what you can" preview, with tickets a $5 minimum. —Zack Smith
