It takes about eight minutes for light from the sun to reach the Earth, but Billy Kelly seems to strap a saddle to a sunbeam and ride it home through an indie pop atmosphere in a third of the time. The kid-friendly aesthetic here, like on They Might Be Giants' No! or Here Comes Science, means unguarded and upbeat. Backed by the quartet The Blah Blah Blahs, guitar jangles, drums skiffle and lyrics sprinkle silly, scattershot fun. On "People Really Like Milk," Kelly lists the various things that folks like, from pajamas to Chewbacca. Other songs examine the joys of a new haircut or the difficulties of deciding to be king of the swamp creatures. The 2 p.m. show is a benefit concert for WCOM, the low-power FM community radio station in Carrboro. Tickets costs $10 or $25 for a family pack of three or more. —Andrew Ritchey
