Everyone is invited and welcome! There'll be food and products from your Best of the Triangle finalists for sampling and for sale. We'll have music by Jack the Radio, Big Fat Gap, Baobab and The Tender Fruit. And there'll be family entertainment, including a kids area. You can RSVP at Facebook event, if you'd like.
No event calling itself "Best of the Triangle" would be complete without a sample of the region's musical produce. The four acts assembled here do the Triangle's reputation justice. Christy Smith, who performs as The Tender Fruit, writes folk songs with confessional intimacy and hymnal warmth. Durham's Phil Torres helms Baobab, a relatively new project exploring an intricate mix of folk and electronic pop. Local staples Big Fat Gap fill the bluegrass quota with plenty of charisma. Raleigh-based headliners Jack the Radio concoct promising fuzz-driven garage-blues, country and college-radio rock. The free event also includes plenty of food vendors and other activities starting at 4 p.m. The party is produced and presented by the Independent Weekly. —Bryan C. Reed
