Best of the Triangle 2007

The votes are in, and the reporters are out (and about)

Want to know the Best Place for Kick-Ass Shoes or the Best Restaurant for a First Date? How about a soda fountain with the best 99-cent hot dog special and chocolate malt—ever? You came to the right place.

More than 2,500 people (after we culled some overly exuberant ballot stuffers) voted this year in the Independent's online poll to choose their favorites in more than 100 categories. That's in the Readers' Choices section.

And our staff went out and found people across the Triangle to burst our stereotypes and show us the best things in their hometowns. So if you thought Raleigh was dull or Cary was too suburban, Durham was too gritty or Chatham County too rural, read on. Best of all is being surprised.
