On April 2, at the Cat's Cradle, KRS-One (hip hop's godfather, pictured left), will be returning to North Carolina, as he does almost every year nowadays. The show always sells out, so get your tickets early! But I want to see kids there. Seeing KRS-One perform is something that every kid should do. He has so many more ethically oriented, morally nourishing messages than anyone on TV and radio (not including our own great freedom fighters Dave and Todd--whaddup Monkey Time?).
The KRS-One show is for all ages, meaning anyone of any age can go! Parents, please come out and see who is still alive and breathing. Kids, pester your folks to let you go--this can't wait until next year. It is important to have an eye-opening, enlightening experience during this time and it is hard to do in North Carolina.
If you go, you will also be supporting local hip hop. Spectac (the dope freestyle rapper who just happens to be the assistant principal at Chapel Hill High School), Durham's own THYRDAY (the skirmish kids who rock spots) and Kaze (well, ya know him--just read last week's Indy!).
