When Avi Buffalo released their self-titled album in 2010, they were a four-piece outfit offering listeners semi-psychedelic, semi-country tunes that belied the members' youth; indeed, at the time of the record's release, frontman/ Neil Young sound-alike Avi Zahner-Isenberg wasn't old enough to drink. Then came the U.S. tour, and then the European tour and the personnel changes. Their latest single, "How Come?", finds the group working now as a duo. While the tune delves into slightly murkier waters sonically, the affable charm that marked their debut is, thankfully, still present. Nik Freitas opens. —David Raposa
