Ark Dances

When: Fri., Oct. 25, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: Free

Name a major figure in modern dance, and chances are good that he or she has danced at The Ark on Duke's East Campus at some point. Home to American Dance Festival and Duke Dance Program classes and events, the white clapboard building also hosts the twice-annual Ark Dances, an informal series presenting student and community choreographic work. Lineups juggle until the day of the show, but you can look forward to Becky Holmes performing a hip-hop piece, Zsofia Solta's turn as the black swan and Lexy Lattimore dancing to Sam Cooke. The Ark Dances offer a wide range of dance, much of it works-in-progress, but it's fresh and unexpected and bursting with energy. —Chris Vitiello
