This, Nicholas Jarecki's first feature, is a taut thriller in which you may root for Richard Gere's sleazy Wall Street player against your better judgment. Gere has always been a rather icy actor, and the charming but repellant Miller will doubtless get him an Oscar nomination. Juicy scenes opposite Susan Sarandon, Brit Marling, Nate Parker and Stuart Margolin. Financial shenanigans often make for compelling cinema (Wall Street, Margin Call), and Arbitrage is 2012's corrupt banking bon bon.
