Angus Maclachlan and Junebug

When: Tue., June 29, 6:30 p.m. 2010
Price: $15, $12 advance

To celebrate North Carolinia talent, the Chatham Arts Council hosts Sustainable Cinema, a film series featuring locally oriented documentaries and narrative films. This month's screening, Junebug, features a whole lotta North Carolina. Not only was it written by UNC School of the Arts alum Angus MacLachlan—who will be in attendance at the event—and directed by Tar Heel filmmaker Phil Morrison, it was also shot entirely in Forsyth County. Starring Amy Adams, Embeth Davidtz and Alessandro Nivola, Junebug is a plaintive look at a middle-class Southern family and how their son's new Chicago wife manages to fit in. The films screens at 8 p.m., and live acoustic music by N.C. indie band Nikki Meets the Hibachi will precede the screening at 6:30. There will also be a special picnic dinner for party guests, featuring burgers and hot dogs, potato salad, corn on the cob, sliced tomatoes and watermelon for $15, or $12 for advance reservations made online. —Belem Destefani
